A Global Investment Bank Credit Middle Office Analyst Role

A Global Investment Bank is currently looking for a Credit Middle Office Analyst with bonds experience for a 6-month initial contract.

Location

The role is based in Liverpool Street and they offer a hybrid working arrangement, which is 3 days in the office per week. The rate for this position is £320 per day umbrella.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience within a Middle Office, Trade Support, or Operations function within an investment bank, with exposure to bond products, trade lifecycle management, and post-trade processes. Experience with allocations, CTM matching, and fixed income products would be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

The Sales Middle Office team acts as a key support and control function for the Global Markets Sales desks. The team's primary responsibility is to ensure the timely and accurate processing of trade capture, amendments, cancellations, validations, allocations, and lifecycle events across Front Office systems.

Working closely with Sales, Trading, Finance, Risk, Technology, and Operations teams, you will be responsible for ensuring trades are correctly booked, controlled, and processed throughout their lifecycle. You will also investigate operational issues, support client queries, and contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to work across Fixed Income and Money Market products while supporting key regulatory, control, and business change initiatives. You will also participate in projects relating to operational efficiency, new business development, and regulatory changes.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Processing

  • Handle trade amendments, cancellations, splits, conversions, and validations
  • Ensure timely and accurate booking of transactions within Front Office systems
  • Monitor and support lifecycle events across bonds and repo products
  • Investigate and resolve trade capture issues and booking discrepancies
  • Liaise with Front Office and Operations teams to ensure correct trade processing
  • Support resolution of trade exceptions and control breaks

Position & Allocation Management

  • Monitor bond and repo positions through the sales blotter
  • Investigate and resolve position discrepancies
  • Process client allocation requests
  • Resolve allocation-related issues and matching exceptions
  • Support allocation processing through DTCC CTM and related market platforms

Fails Management & Reconciliations

  • Assist with the investigation and resolution of settlement fails
  • Perform reconciliations between trading systems, risk platforms, and electronic venues
  • Investigate breaks and work with relevant stakeholders to achieve resolution
  • Escalate issues where appropriate and ensure timely follow-up
  • Maintain strong operational controls and risk awareness

Client Service & Sales Support

  • Act as a key point of contact for post-trade client queries
  • Provide support to Sales desks regarding booking and operational issues
  • Investigate and resolve internal and external client enquiries
  • Build strong relationships with counterparties and operational contacts
  • Represent the bank professionally with external stakeholders

Control & Risk Management

  • Execute daily control procedures
  • Ensure compliance with operational and governance requirements
  • Identify and escalate potential operational risks
  • Maintain accurate documentation of control activities
  • Support internal and external audit requests
  • Assist with incident management and issue resolution processes

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Support implementation of regulatory and business change projects
  • Assist with new business and product initiatives
  • Contribute to efficiency and automation opportunities
  • Support departmental project work as required

Required Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience within Middle Office, Trade Support, or Operations
  • Exposure to Fixed Income, Credit, or Bond products
  • Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle
  • Experience investigating trade breaks and operational issues
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a front-office-facing environment
  • High attention to detail and strong risk awareness

Desirable

  • Experience with DTCC CTM and ALERT
  • Fund allocation experience
  • Primary issuance or syndication workflow exposure
  • Knowledge of Murex, Orchestrade, or Omega
  • VBA skills
