The bar is high – bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next.
Join us at IG – the future gets built here.
Your role in the Team's Success
As Credit Operations Lead, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Credit Operations team, ensuring the group's credit risk, margin, client categorisation and debt management activities are delivered accurately, on time and in line with regulatory requirements. You will set the standard for operational control within the team, act as the escalation point for complex client and credit matters, and drive continuous improvement across our processes and controls. Reporting to the Head of Client Operations, you will play a key role in protecting both our clients and the group while helping shape how the function operates as the business grows.
What you'll do
Your responsibilities include:
- Lead, coach and develop the Credit Operations team, setting clear objectives, managing performance and ensuring the team meets its individual and collective KPIs
- Oversee the management of client margin calls, account settlements and close-out activity, ensuring decisions are timely, consistent and well documented
- Own the monitoring and management of client credit exposure, including the assessment, approval and periodic review of credit facilities and limits within delegated authority
- Oversee the retail to professional client classification process, ensuring assessments are robust, evidenced and compliant with FCA requirements and internal policy
- Manage the end-to-end debt management and recovery process, including client engagement, repayment arrangements, escalation to third parties and write-off recommendations
- Own and maintain the first line risk controls for the team, covering risk monitoring, risk identification and risk analysis, and ensure issues and breaches are identified, recorded and remediated promptly
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex client queries and complaints relating to credit, margin and account status, ensuring good client outcomes in line with Consumer Duty
- Oversee the production and distribution of daily, weekly and monthly management information, reports and audits, and present key insights and trends to senior stakeholders
- Lead the team's response to internal audit, compliance monitoring, external audit and regulatory requests, ensuring evidence is accurate and actions are closed within agreed timescales
- Maintain up-to-date procedures and process documentation, ensuring the team operates to documented and controlled standards
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the business, including Compliance, Risk, Finance, Dealing, Legal and Account Management
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation and control, and work with product owners and technology teams to deliver change and enhance our client offering

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
