Job Description

Purpose of the Role

To actively contribute to the Research business by conducting financial analysis and delivering insights that support senior colleagues in producing differentiated content for clients.

Accountabilities

  • Conduct financial industry analysis on covered companies and the broader sector to support the team’s investment thesis.
  • Research sector trends that may impact company/sector recommendations.
  • Update financial models of covered companies from information obtained through company conference calls and press releases as well as other sources.
  • Assist with sector notes and reports on companies and industries followed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge, including in support of Research Department initiatives.
  • Cultivate relationships across the Research Department to foster knowledge-sharing and best practices.

  • Requires in-depth technical knowledge and experience in their assigned area of expertise.
  • Thorough understanding of the underlying principles and concepts within the area of expertise.

  • Make evaluative judgements based on factual information analysis, paying attention to detail.

  • Act as contact point for stakeholders outside immediate function, while building a network of external contacts.

As a graduate analyst, you'll be guided by a senior analyst, employ critical thinking to provide insights for investment theses and reports. Responsibilities include analyzing macro industry trends, maintaining financial models, gathering and interpreting data, crafting client-centric marketing materials, and participating in client interactions. Moreover, you'll collaborate with our Quantitative Portfolio Strategies and Data Science and Applied AI teams, gaining insights into advanced financial analysis.

Who We're Looking For

To be considered, you must be motivated and curious with a degree or expected degree, in any area. Ideally, you'll be excited by financial modeling, analysis, and numerical competence with interest in current and emerging trends.

This role is regulated by the FCA. Barclays will accept applications from candidates requiring visa sponsorship to work in the UK, providing a skilled worker visa if they meet criteria. Applicants not eligible for a skilled worker visa must have the legal right to work in the UK full-time from either February or July 2027 to July 2029, depending on the intake date.
