Role Overview

This role is 40 hours per week, based in our office in Hull.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage the Credit Risk inbox, responding to queries and providing guidance, support and best practice to branches and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the Credit Managers with the day-to-day operation of the Credit Control and Accounts Administration teams, including providing cover during periods of absence.
  • Assess new and existing customer accounts by analysing financial information, credit reports and trading history to determine appropriate credit limits and risk exposure.
  • Monitor customer exposure, conduct regular reviews of high-value accounts and identify emerging financial or credit risks.
  • Manage credit insurance requirements, liaising with insurers regarding customer exposures, insolvencies, policy compliance and risk events.
  • Investigate adverse credit events including CCJs, insolvencies, administration notices and other indicators of financial distress, escalating significant risks where appropriate.
  • Support branches with held orders, high-risk account decisions and exceptional credit requests, balancing commercial opportunities against risk.
  • Ensure compliance with company credit policies, procedures and insurer requirements whilst maintaining accurate records and audit trails.
  • Produce risk reports, exposure analysis and management information to support business decision making.
  • Work closely with Credit Control, Legal and Accounts Administration teams to minimise bad debt exposure and support recovery activities.
  • Identify trends in customer payment behaviour and recommend actions to reduce risk, improve collections and strengthen controls.
  • Support projects, system developments, process improvements and the training and coaching of colleagues on credit risk and compliance matters.

  • Strong understanding of credit risk, credit assessment and accounts receivable.
  • Experience interpreting credit reports and financial statements.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience using K8, CreditSafe, Debtors Workplace or similar credit management systems.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work within defined credit policies and controls.
