The Role

At Next we have a great opportunity for an analyst to join our growing Credit and Risk team as a Credit Risk Analyst. Next is one of the biggest retailers in the UK, and over 40% of customers who shop online with us do so using one of our own branded credit accounts. The Credit and Risk team are responsible for analysing all aspects of this lending, which covers 3 million customers with a total of £1.3B outstandings, using data to drive insight on how we can optimise our customer proposition and business profit. You’ll be at the heart of understanding our credit customers and designing, testing and implementing strategy changes to help support growing our business.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who has experience in data analytics, or has worked in credit and risk before, has a real curiosity about solving business problems and is looking for the next step in their career in data analysis. You’ll need to be the kind of person who enjoys getting stuck into complex problems, confidently analysing a range of data using industry standard tools (e.g. SQL, Python, Databricks, Excel, PowerBI) and to deliver great products for our customers.

If you’re excited about using data to drive real business impact, our Credit Risk Analyst role is a great place to develop your career within a growing business and well known brand!

What You Will Take On

  • Produce regular reporting and carry out ad hoc analyses. Comment on trends, adding value through contributing ideas and solutions to any problems or opportunities identified.
  • Identify risks and opportunities in the current processes and rules through complex analysis, using multiple data sources.
  • Collaborating with Senior Analysts within the team to deliver suitable lending strategies. Working towards becoming an expert on credit risk and data and representing the commercial value and regulatory aspects of lending activity.
  • Build and present reporting and monitoring relating to credit risk at internal meetings where required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
