Senior Credit Risk Analyst

There are 2 roles currently available - One for a Senior Credit Analyst and One for a Credit Analyst
A regulated financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Credit Risk Analyst to join its established risk function.
This is a senior, hands-on position responsible for providing independent credit assessment, challenge and recommendations across a diverse portfolio of corporate and financial institution counterparties. The successful candidate will assess both new and existing exposures, support portfolio oversight and contribute to the continued development of the organisation’s credit risk framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Review complex credit applications and provide clear, commercially balanced recommendations.
- Assess financial, transactional, sector, country and wider macroeconomic risks.
- Evaluate new and existing exposures to ensure they remain within agreed credit appetite, policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present high-quality credit papers to senior decision-making forums.
- Approve credit applications within delegated authority where appropriate.
- Review internal credit ratings using financial analysis, peer comparisons and appropriate due diligence.
- Monitor portfolio quality, concentrations, limits and emerging risks, escalating concerns when required.
- Identify early warning indicators and recommend appropriate risk-mitigation actions.
- Ensure transactions meet required prudential standards and are supported by appropriate documentation.
- Support the development and implementation of credit policies, procedures and portfolio strategies.
- Contribute to IFRS 9 assessments and periodic portfolio reviews.
- Work closely with relationship management, business, risk, legal, compliance and audit stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and support to junior colleagues, including assisting with work allocation and quality assurance.
- Support regulatory requests, audits, strategic initiatives and other credit-related projects.

Experience Required
- Significant experience within corporate and/or financial institution credit risk, ideally gained within banking or another regulated financial services environment.
- Strong experience assessing complex lending or financing arrangements. Exposure could include corporate lending, trade finance, structured finance, asset-backed lending or real estate-related transactions.
- Demonstrable experience producing and presenting detailed credit papers and recommendations.
- Strong financial analysis and financial modelling capabilities.
- Good understanding of internal credit-rating methodologies, portfolio monitoring and early warning indicators.
- Knowledge of IFRS 9 and broader credit risk management requirements.
- Experience assessing international or cross-border counterparties would be advantageous.
- Previous experience providing guidance, oversight or support to more junior team members would be beneficial.

Qualifications
- Degree-level education in finance, economics, business or a related discipline.
- A relevant professional or postgraduate qualification, such as CFA, FRM, MBA or MSc, would be advantageous.
