Credit Risk Engineering Manager
Global Investment Bank
Location: London (3 days per week in office)
Salary: Up to £160,000
We are supporting a global investment bank in the search for an Engineering Manager / Head of Credit Risk Technology to lead their specialist Credit Risk Analytics IT function.
The role sits within a global Credit Risk Technology environment and is responsible for the strategy, architecture, engineering delivery and ongoing development of a global Credit Risk platform used to calculate and report Credit Risk exposures. This will also provide leadership across engineering, quantitative analytics, data and business teams, while working closely with senior Credit Risk stakeholders to deliver technology solutions supporting PFE, pricing, risk analytics and regulatory requirements.
A strong understanding of Credit Risk is essential, alongside a background in software engineering and technology leadership. The successful candidate will have come from a strong C# /.NET development background and progressed into a senior engineering or technology leadership position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide strategic direction to the Credit Risk Analytics IT function
- Define and implement the technology strategy and architecture for the global Credit Risk platform
- Lead engineering teams across onshore, nearshore and offshore locations
- Own the delivery of multiple Credit Risk technology programmes and initiatives
- Provide technical leadership across Credit Risk pricing, analytics and risk platforms
- Act as a senior SME on Credit Risk concepts, PFE and regulatory requirements
- Lead the modernisation and enhancement of global Credit Risk technology platforms
- Oversee the development and integration of risk engines, pricing platforms and proprietary systems
- Ensure the reliable calculation, processing and reporting of Credit Risk exposures
- Work closely with Credit Risk Managers, Quantitative Analysts, Developers, Project Managers and senior Technology stakeholders
- Provide technical direction across C#/.NET applications, APIs, services and distributed systems
- Manage delivery risks, dependencies, scope and technical architecture across multiple programmes
- Drive engineering standards, technical quality and continuous improvement
- Lead hiring, performance management, succession planning and development of a high-performing engineering team
- Represent the Credit Risk Technology function in global governance forums and risk transformation initiatives
- Ensure technology solutions meet regulatory, audit, security and operational requirements

Required Experience:
- Strong professional experience within Credit Risk Technology
- Proven experience leading engineering or technology teams within an investment bank or financial markets environment
- Strong understanding of Credit Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk and PFE
- Previous background as a hands-on C# /.NET developer, with strong understanding of modern software engineering practices
- Experience with .NET Core, Web APIs and large-scale distributed applications
- Strong understanding of financial product pricing and how pricing outputs feed into Credit Risk and PFE calculations
- Experience across financial products such as Interest Rates, Credit, Equities, Bonds, MBS, Repos, Stock Borrow/Lending or other financial products
- Strong understanding of how pricing, market data and financial analytics contribute to risk calculations
- Experience leading the development and support of large-scale applications covering data, pricing, risk processing and reporting
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior Technology, Risk and business stakeholders
- Experience managing geographically distributed engineering teams
- Strong understanding of financial markets and financial products
- Experience with SQL Server and modern technology architectures

Desirable Experience:
- Experience leading Credit Risk Analytics / PFE platforms
- Experience implementing or supporting Credit Risk pricing and analytics engines
- Cross-asset pricing and risk analytics experience
- Experience integrating third-party risk engines with proprietary financial systems
- Experience with Murex or similar front-to-back financial platforms
- Experience working with global Credit Risk platforms across multiple regions
- Exposure to regulatory change and risk transformation programmes
