Portfolio & Model Manager – Credit Risk Models & Data

London | Hybrid working | 3 days per week in the office

We are looking for a senior credit risk professional from a model development, model governance, model validation or portfolio analytics background to join a major UK financial institution.

This is a broad, hands-on role combining model ownership, portfolio analytics, data oversight and senior stakeholder engagement. You will help shape how credit risk models, data and analytics are used to support portfolio oversight, regulatory engagement and business decision-making.

The Role

You will lead the Models & Data agenda within the Portfolio Management function and act as first-line Model Owner for a portfolio of key credit risk models, including IRB, credit grading, IFRS 9 and stress-testing models.

Working closely with Model Development, Model Validation, Model Risk, Credit Risk, Finance, Analytics, Data and Technology teams, you will provide the link between technical modelling teams and the wider business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Relevant experience could include IRB, PD/LGD/EAD, IFRS 9, ECL, stress testing, credit grading models, model monitoring or portfolio analytics.

You do not need to have worked previously as a formal Model Owner. What matters is that you understand credit risk models in sufficient depth to engage credibly with technical teams and translate their outputs into clear implications for the wider business.

Strong analytical and data skills are also important. Experience with Excel and BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau or QlikView is desirable, while SQL or SAS would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent next step for someone who has built their career in model development, validation, governance or portfolio analytics and now wants broader ownership, greater business exposure and regular interaction with senior stakeholders.

The organisation operates a hybrid working model, with three days per week expected in the London office.
