Crime and Home Affairs Correspondent
This is a senior, high-profile correspondent role at the heart of Sky News’ coverage of crime, policing, the criminal justice system, and home affairs.
As Crime and Home Affairs Correspondent, you will be one of the defining voices on the biggest and most consequential stories affecting the UK. You will have the authority, expertise, and contacts to break exclusive stories, run major investigations, and explain complex issues with clarity, insight, and impact.
You will own your beat. That means developing an unrivalled network of sources, spotting stories before they emerge, asking the questions others are not asking, and pursuing journalism that holds power to account. You will be expected to go beyond reporting what has happened. You will front major breaking news, investigations, interviews, and live events across television and digital, while developing distinctive journalism that audiences actively seek out.
Alongside your journalism, you will build a recognisable and trusted personal brand around your expertise. You will develop an engaged community of audiences who value your reporting and analysis, helping Sky News deepen its relationship with existing audiences and grow new ones. This is a role for a correspondent who wants to set the agenda rather than simply follow it.
What you'll do:
- Own the crime and home affairs agenda – this includes owning responsibility for our relationship with institutions like the Ministry of Justice, Home Office, and major police forces including Unions.
- Break exclusive and revelatory journalism
- Front major video first stories in an innovative way, reaching audiences on all our platforms
- Create ambitious, original journalism that goes beyond the daily news cycle – this will involve collaboration with newsroom, hub, investigations, data, and audience teams to turn ideas into high-impact journalism.
- Build a distinctive personal brand
- Deliver across every platform – you will be able to present confidently across live television, digital video, social, audio, and emerging platforms.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
