Crime Paralegal - West Midlands - Hybrid Working

A well-established specialist criminal law firm is looking to recruit a motivated Crime Paralegal to join its growing team in the West Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal or experienced Caseworker looking to develop their career within criminal defence, gaining hands-on exposure to a varied privately funded caseload.

You’ll work closely with experienced solicitors, supporting matters from initial police station involvement through to court proceedings and trial. The role offers genuine responsibility, client contact, and the opportunity to build your experience within a supportive team.

The Role:

  • Assist fee earners with a varied caseload of privately funded criminal defence matters
  • Support cases from initial instruction through to conclusion
  • Assist with case preparation, including reviewing evidence and preparing documentation
  • Liaise with clients, courts, counsel, and other relevant parties
  • Assist with police station and court matters where required
  • Undertake legal research and prepare case-related documents
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure deadlines are met
  • Provide high-quality client support throughout the life of a matter
  • Travel to courts and police stations across the Midlands as required
  • Work collaboratively with solicitors and other members of the team

About You:

  • At least 2 years' experience working within criminal law, whether as a Paralegal, Caseworker, or in a similar role
  • Good understanding of criminal procedure and the criminal justice system
  • Experience supporting criminal defence matters
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and client care abilities
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Proactive, reliable, and committed to developing a long-term career in criminal law
  • Comfortable working independently while contributing to a wider team
  • Willing to travel across the Midlands when required
