Crime & Regulatory Lawyers – Senior Associate to Partner

Manchester | Multiple Hires | Salary depending on level & experience

This isn't your typical law firm opportunity. You won't find a culture built around internal politics, unnecessary hierarchy or the idea that working the most insane hours somehow makes you the best lawyer. Instead, you'll find high-quality work, plenty of it, and smart people who genuinely enjoy working with one another – within a collegiate environment where people collaborate, leave their egos at the door and are recognised for the contribution they make.

We're supporting a progressive and growing law firm as they continue to invest in their Crime & Regulatory practice in Manchester. We're interested in speaking with accomplished lawyers across Senior Associate, Legal Director and Partner level, including those ready to make the next step in their career. The existing team comprises five fee earners plus senior legal support and is recognised by both Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners across crime, health & safety and professional discipline.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Work

This is a genuinely broad Crime & Regulatory practice, with instructions covering:

  • Inquests and public inquiries
  • Professional discipline
  • Gross misconduct investigations in policing
  • Health & safety matters
  • Licensing and environmental matters
  • Entity regulation, including Ofsted and CQC
  • Broader contentious and non-contentious regulatory advice for businesses and individuals

The roles combine complex casework with the opportunity to undertake advocacy where appropriate, develop client relationships and support more junior lawyers.

For more senior lawyers, there's much more to it than running a caseload. You'll have the opportunity to help shape the strategy and direction of the practice, develop existing relationships, generate new business, mentor and develop the team and play a meaningful part in its continued growth. At Partner level in particular, the firm is looking for someone who can combine technical expertise with leadership, client development and genuine commercial ambition.

Why Consider It?

We've worked closely with the firm for some time and have successfully helped them appoint a number of lawyers and legal professionals. What has consistently stood out is the culture. There's high-quality work and an established flow of instructions, but without some of the politics and unnecessary hierarchy associated with more traditional law firms. People collaborate. They support each other. And, importantly, they seem to genuinely enjoy working together.

The practice also sits within a much larger international group, giving lawyers access to an established flow of work, relationships and resources while retaining the accessibility and entrepreneurial feel of a progressive law firm.
