Criminal Defence Paralegal | London | £30,000 — £35,000 | Immediate Start

The Firm

Our client is a newly founded criminal defence boutique in London, established by a highly respected King's Counsel with a strong reputation in the criminal bar. The firm's caseload is predominantly privately funded, with a limited legal aid capability retained. It is an ambitious practice with a clear vision to become one of the leading specialist criminal defence firms in the country.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-quality criminal defence practice at the very start of its journey. Working closely alongside a leading King's Counsel and a senior criminal defence solicitor, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of exceptional legal services from day one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the preparation and management of criminal defence cases across Magistrates' Court and Crown Court proceedings
  • Conducting legal research and preparing case summaries, instructions to counsel, and other legal documents
  • Attending police stations, courts, and prisons to support the delivery of client services
  • Liaising with clients, counsel, court staff, and third parties in a professional and sensitive manner
  • Managing case files and maintaining accurate records using practice management software
  • Assisting with legal aid applications and billing where required
  • Supporting the wider team with general administrative and operational tasks during the firm's early stages

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
