About the Role
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) and the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) established the CRIS system and services in 2008. CRIS is a technical and governance solution enabling access to deidentified clinical data for research. A key component of the CRIS Security Model is the Communications Programme, ensuring stakeholders, including service users, can access information about CRIS. The programme is managed through the CRIS Extraction Service, supporting users to specify and extract data for research in line with CRIS governance requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity (fixed-term post, initially ending in March 2028) for an enthusiastic and analytical individual. Applicants should have research experience, including peer-reviewed publications; familiarity with clinical research datasets and information technology; service management experience; and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the CRIS Communications Programme, including evaluation and development to improve transparency and access to CRIS information.
- Support the wider CRIS Extraction Service, including liaison with CRIS users on research feasibility; database querying; service administration; testing and evaluation of CRIS data and services; dissemination of findings; and publications.
- Work with colleagues across the CRIS team and SLaM Clinical Informatics Services.
- Manage and maintain the CRIS Communications Programme, including web content, leaflets, posters, presentations, publications and other materials.
- Evaluate and improve the Communications Programme to maximise effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.
- Report to the CRIS Oversight Committee on programme activity, performance and outcomes.
- Manage and support CRIS Service User Advisory Groups.
- Coordinate CRIS and CIS content across Trust and BRC websites with Communications Teams.
- Respond to enquiries from researchers, service users and other stakeholders, including feasibility queries and user training.
- Undertake simple SQL-based data extraction tasks.
- Support administration of the CRIS Extraction Service, including project allocation, specifications, workflows and tracking systems.
- Support evaluation of Extraction Service performance against agreed standards and publication of results.
- Coordinate reporting of CRIS and Clinical Informatics performance metrics through the monthly Balanced Business Scorecard.
- Work with the Research Clinical Informatics Lead in evaluation and development of the service model.
- Work with the CRIS Academic Lead in evaluating CRIS data and usage, including journal submissions and publications.
- Provide cover for other CRIS administrative tasks.

About the Location
The job will be based at the IoPPN Main Building, part of the wider Denmark Hill campus shared by SLaM and King's College London. The IoPPN main building is home to the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.
Denmark Hill is very well connected and staff can reach Victoria or Blackfriars stations in 10 minutes by train, and East London is 25 minutes by overground.
