CYPS Crisis Line
The CYPS Crisis Line supports young people who are experiencing emotional and mental health crises. Young people, their families or carers, and our acute colleagues can call and receive advice, support, and signposting 24 hours a day.
You will work within a CYPS Hub based in Redhill, Surrey. You will provide telephone crisis call response for children, young people (CYP) and their families and support acute colleagues where possible to offer advice and safely facilitate the discharge of young people from hospital, to be followed up the following day by our Crisis Intervention Service. This role involves a mix of shifts, including days and nights.
This role attracts a £3000 Golden Hello Package. More details will be provided at the offer stage.
Main Duties
- Taking calls from young people, their families or carers, and our acute colleagues
- Taking time to understand the needs of the young person
- Assessing risk
- Making a plan with the young person to help manage the immediate crisis
- Liaising with any services the young person is working alongside or being able to signpost
- Ensuring clear and concise documentation is completed

Taking calls from our acute colleagues out of hours, you will be able to:
- Provide advice and a safety plan
- Look to support young people being safely discharged where it is clinically safe to do so
- Liaise with our Crisis Intervention Service to offer a follow-up assessment the following day
- Offer advice regarding the support the young person may need overnight
Requirements
- Be confident and competent in engaging with young people
- Assess their needs, including safeguarding, risks, and making safety plans with them and their families
- Receive regular supervision
- Have access to training to support your own learning needs and development
