The Role
We’re looking for a Crisis Response Manager to join our Operational Resilience Crisis & Incident Response team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a hands-on role in helping Standard Life prepare for, respond to and recover from disruption. You'll participate in incident and crisis response activities, support the development of response playbooks, contribute to Important Business Service mapping and testing, and help deliver simulations and resilience initiatives.
You'll gain a unique understanding of how a complex global organisation operates, whilst helping strengthen preparedness, response capability and resilience across the enterprise.
The Team
Operational Resilience is about helping Standard Life prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruption, ensuring the organisation can continue to deliver important services and outcomes when unexpected events occur.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Whether challenges arise from technology failures, cyber incidents, supplier issues, operational events, data incidents, physical disruption or other unforeseen circumstances, Operational Resilience helps the organisation understand how its services operate, identify critical dependencies and respond effectively when issues arise.
It is a constantly evolving discipline that requires ongoing learning, exploration, and adaptation to ensure Standard Life remains prepared for emerging threats, new disruption scenarios, and changing resilience challenges.
The Crisis & Incident Response team sits within Operational Resilience and plays a central role in helping the organisation prepare for and respond to disruption.
No two days are the same. One day you could be supporting a resilience simulation, the next helping to develop a new response playbook, responding to an incident, conducting Important Business Service mapping or testing, or researching emerging disruption and resilience topics.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and lead the development and continuous improvement of response playbooks and response arrangements.
- Support Important Business Service mapping and testing activities, working with stakeholders to understand services, dependencies and delivery models.
- Support and lead simulations, exercises and stakeholder engagement activities, driving lessons learned, improvement opportunities and actions.
- Support and participate in incident and crisis response activities, including providing support to Gold, Silver and Bronze response teams during disruption events.
- Research emerging threats and resilience developments, whilst producing incident, simulation and exercise reports and maintaining resilience documentation and evidence
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who is curious, proactive and enjoys solving problems, learning and working with others. You'll have an interest in understanding how services operate, exploring new challenges and helping strengthen resilience across Standard Life.
