Retain Healthcare is recruiting confident and compassionate Crisis Response Support Workers for our new Community Bridging Service across Gloucestershire.
This is a fast-paced and rewarding role supporting adults who experience an unexpected care crisis at home. You will provide immediate, short-term assistance, usually for between two and five days to help people remain safe, avoid an unnecessary hospital admission and regain their independence.
You must be comfortable responding at short notice and working calmly in changing situations. Some people may require support within two hours of a referral.
What You Will Do
- Respond quickly to urgent and short notice care referrals.
- Visit people in their own homes across your allocated area.
- Complete an initial check of the person’s needs, safety and immediate risks.
- Provide personal care, medication support, meal preparation and mobility assistance.
- Support people following illness, injury, a fall or an unexpected change in circumstances.
- Provide emergency support when a family carer becomes suddenly unavailable.
- Encourage independence rather than taking over tasks unnecessarily.
- Recognise deterioration and escalate concerns promptly.
- Complete accurate electronic care records.
- Work closely with coordinators, health professionals, Adult Social Care and family members.
- Follow safeguarding, infection control, medication and lone-working procedures.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
