Critical Facilities Engineer – Data Centre
Salary: Competitive / Dependent on Experience
Location: Remote (United Kingdom)

About the Opportunity
We are currently working with established organisations within the UK Data Centre and Mission-Critical sector who are looking to appoint experienced Critical Facilities Engineers to support their growing operations. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineering professionals looking to work within a mission-critical environment, supporting the operation, maintenance and reliability of critical infrastructure and data centre facilities.
We are interested in speaking with professionals currently working as Critical Facilities Engineers, Critical Environment Engineers, Data Centre Engineers, Data Centre Facilities Engineers, Data Centre Operations Engineers, Shift Engineers, Critical Infrastructure Engineers, M&E Engineers, Electrical Engineers or Mechanical Engineers.
The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work within technically complex environments where reliability, availability and operational excellence are essential.
As a Critical Facilities Engineer, you will:
- Operate, monitor and maintain critical data centre infrastructure and facilities.
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across critical systems.
- Monitor and maintain electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Work with critical power systems including UPS, generators, switchgear and HV/LV equipment.
- Support the operation and maintenance of HVAC, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units and associated cooling systems.
- Monitor and respond to alarms through BMS, EPMS and other critical monitoring systems.
- Carry out fault finding, diagnostics and corrective maintenance.
- Support planned maintenance, testing and commissioning activities.
- Follow strict health, safety, compliance and operational procedures.
- Work closely with internal engineering teams, contractors and service providers.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation.
- Support the continuous improvement and reliability of critical infrastructure.
- Respond effectively to incidents and minimise operational disruption.
- Work within established procedures to ensure maximum availability and resilience of critical systems.

About You
- Previous experience working within a Data Centre, Mission-Critical, Critical Infrastructure or similar technically demanding environment.
- Strong engineering background across either electrical, mechanical or M&E disciplines.
- Experience maintaining or operating critical infrastructure and facilities.
- Strong understanding of systems such as UPS, generators, switchgear, HV/LV, HVAC, chillers, BMS or EPMS.
- Experience working within environments where system availability and reliability are critical.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities.
- Good understanding of planned and reactive maintenance.
- Strong health and safety awareness.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a wider engineering team.
- A professional and proactive approach to maintaining critical infrastructure.

Experience within hyperscale, colocation, data centre, telecommunications, financial services, healthcare or other mission-critical environments would be advantageous.
Candidates with backgrounds as Critical Environment Engineers, Data Centre Engineers, Data Centre Facilities Engineers, Shift Engineers, Critical Infrastructure Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers or M&E Engineers are also encouraged to apply.
