Critical Facilities Manager – Data Centre
Location: London (M25 area), site-based with occasional hybrid flexibility (1 day WFH per week for admin, subject to operational needs and on-call rota)
Salary: £80,000 – £95,000 + 15% bonus + car allowance + pension + private healthcare
The opportunity
365 Recruitment is partnering with a leading UK colocation operator to appoint a Critical Facilities Manager for a flagship multi-megawatt London campus. You'll own the safe, resilient operation of all critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure, keeping 100% uptime for enterprise and hyperscale customers.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the operation, maintenance and resilience of all critical infrastructure, including HV/LV electrical systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling (CRAH/CRAC, chillers) and BMS/EPMS.
- Maintain 100% uptime against customer SLAs, and lead the response to incidents, escalations and root cause analysis.
- Manage and develop a team of shift engineers, technicians and supervisors, including rotas, training and competency.
- Oversee planned preventive maintenance (PPM) programmes, and manage specialist contractors and suppliers.
- Own the Method of Procedure (MOP), Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP) framework.
- Act as Authorised Person (AP) for HV/LV, and oversee Permit to Work and safe systems of work.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, statutory obligations and standards such as ISO 9001/14001/45001/50001 and Uptime/TIA-942 where applicable.
- Drive energy efficiency and PUE improvement, and support sustainability targets.
- Manage capacity planning for power and cooling as customer load grows.
- Support fit-outs, expansions and commissioning (Level 1–5) of new data halls, handing over from construction to operations.
- Own the critical facilities budget, covering OPEX, CAPEX requests and contractor spend.
- Serve as a key point of contact for customers on site audits, tours and technical queries.
- Report monthly KPIs to senior leadership, covering uptime, incidents, PPM compliance and energy performance.

About you

- 8+ years in critical environments, with data centres preferred. Backgrounds in hospitals, pharma, the MoD or utilities will also be considered.
- 3+ years managing engineering teams in a 24/7 operation.
- Strong electrical background, with HV/LV Authorised Person status preferred.
- HNC/HND or degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with UPS, generators, switchgear and cooling systems.
- Experience managing contractors, budgets and compliance.
- Calm under pressure, customer-facing and comfortable in audits.
- Desirable: CDCP/CDCS/CDFOM, NEBOSH or IOSH, and experience with commissioning.
