Cross-border Category Manager – Home & Living

As Cross-border Category Manager – Home & Living, you will play a key role in defining our product selection for UK consumers as we develop our cross-border business. Working closely with our Category teams based in China, you will bring your knowledge of the UK market, consumer trends and the Home & Living sector to guide assortment decisions: identifying local trends, consumer preferences, new product opportunities and any gaps in our offer. Your objective will be to help build an assortment that is broad and competitive, while also being relevant, attractive and tailored to the expectations of UK consumers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the China-based Cross-border Category teams to analyse and optimise the Home & Living product selection, contributing knowledge of the UK market.
  • Analyse consumer trends, purchasing behaviour, competitor assortments and market data to identify high-potential products and sub-categories.
  • Recommend which products to introduce, prioritise, adapt or remove from the assortment based on their relevance to UK consumers.
  • Monitor the UK Home & Living market, including major retailers, product trends and evolving consumer expectations.
  • Identify differences in preferences and trends across the main European markets to determine opportunities for assortment localisation.
  • Spot emerging trends and new product opportunities, leveraging the breadth of supply and sourcing capabilities in China.
  • Work with Category, Marketing and other relevant teams to optimise product positioning and appeal.
  • Track product and category performance after launch to continuously refine assortment decisions.

  • At least 5 years of experience in Category Management, Buying, Merchandising or a similar commercial role, ideally in Home & Living (home decoration, furniture, household equipment, etc.).
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK market, consumer expectations, product trends and the competitive landscape.
  • Ideally, experience at a major brick-and-mortar or omnichannel retailer, with hands-on experience in product selection and assortment building.
  • Strong product sense and commercial instinct, with the ability to identify products likely to appeal to UK consumers.
  • Analytical and results-driven, able to turn market data and consumer insights into concrete recommendations.
  • Comfortable in an international and multicultural environment, ideally with experience working with teams based in China or Asia.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to work with teams from different markets and cultures.
