IPS Group are partnering exclusively with one of the most well-known names in the insurance industry to help them grow and develop their underwriting function across their regional office network. We are looking for Underwriters with experience of either property, casualty, or commercial motor in a role which will offer exposure to all products.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing commercial underwriting team where you'll gain exposure to a genuinely diverse portfolio of risks across Property & Casualty, Motor Trade, and Motor Fleet. Unlike many underwriting roles that focus on one class of business, this position offers the chance to develop your technical knowledge across multiple commercial lines while working on new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments within a supportive and highly collaborative environment. You will focus on premiums up to £35,000.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
