What is the Job?

We love and cherish our gardens here at the Crowne Plaza and looking for someone with the same passion to join the team. You will cherish the outdoors and be passionate about horticulture. As a Gardener / Handyperson – you’ll make sure our gardens are always ‘maintained and welcoming’ for our guests. You will be responsible for the maintenance of the hotel grounds, cutting the lawn and maintenance of plants and shrubbery in order to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel. and for seeing that all other duties necessary for the upkeep of these areas are at the high standard of the Crowne Plaza.

About The Role

Your Day to Day

  • Manage the day to day running of all aspects of the gardening
  • Keep grounds clean, free of garbage and debris
  • Keep loading dock clean, free of garbage and debris
  • Mow and cut the grass and lawns
  • Maintain flower beds, shrubbery, etc.
  • Maintain boundaries, hedges, borders and plant cultivation
  • Prune trees, shrubs and hedges
  • Regularly inspect any garden structures and undertake minor repairs or advise the maintenance manager
  • General garden carpentry such as assembling and maintain of furniture, replacing handles and similar hardware
  • General minor painting and decorating of garden appearance
  • Report major repairs and items, which cannot be repaired to the maintenance manager for further action
  • Due to the nature of the business the individual may be required to carry out other maintenance related tasks including but not limited to painting, cleaning and general repairs
  • Attend all relevant departmental / hotel / company training

Required Criteria

  • Experience in this type of role
  • Practical knowledge of plants
  • Experience of using general gardening machinery
  • Skills in gardening and maintenance
  • Ability to work independently
  • High standards of Attention to Detail
  • Strong Time Management skills and flexible with regards to working hours
  • Ability to communicate and follow instruction
  • Must have a clear understanding of speaking and understanding English

Desired Criteria

  • 1 plus years’ experience in this type of role
  • Experience in this role in a hotel setting
