About The Role
This role is an important addition to the University's Research Support Team and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the effective delivery of the University's research governance activities. Working as an 0.4 FTE Research Integrity and Ethics Assistant (15 hours per week), you will collaborate closely with the existing 0.6 FTE Research Integrity and Ethics Assistant on a job share basis. Both postholders will collectively fulfil the responsibilities of the full role profile.
We are seeking an organised, proactive and customer-focused individual who is able to manage a varied workload, work confidently with sensitive information and liaise effectively with a wide range of colleagues. Experience of administrative support, process coordination and reporting will be advantageous, together with an interest in research governance and ethics.
This post is 15 hours per week, and we welcome discussions about flexible working arrangements and the pattern of working. To ensure service continuity, you will need to be available to work on Mondays and on at least one of Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. This is to enable appropriate support for service delivery, as well as opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing with the other postholder.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
