CSA Quantity Surveyor

Data Centre Project - Long term project

Salary: £50k - £80K DOE + package

Our client, a leading European data centre delivery specialist providing turnkey solutions from design through construction and commissioning, is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a major data centre project in Blyth.

This is a strong opportunity for an early-career QS to build commercial and project management experience alongside a seasoned team on a large-scale, high-profile technology project. You will support the commercial team across cost management, subcontract packages, valuations, variations and the wider commercial cycle from procurement to close-out.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Quantity Surveyors in managing subcontract packages
  • Assist with tender documentation, work packages, budgets and procurement
  • Analyse and review subcontractor tender returns
  • Prepare and administer subcontractor documentation
  • Assist with monthly valuations, payments and cost reporting
  • Help prepare and assess variations, claims and other commercial matters
  • Monitor project costs and maintain accurate commercial records
  • Contribute to cost/value reconciliations and cash flow reports
  • Support the preparation and agreement of external valuations
  • Assist with subcontractor final accounts and commercial close-out
  • Liaise with subcontractors, clients, designers and internal project teams
  • Ensure commercial documentation is accurate and on time
  • Identify potential commercial issues and escalate them where appropriate
  • Work closely with the wider project team to support successful delivery

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline
  • 2–5 years’ QS experience in a construction environment
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in commercial management
  • Good understanding of construction processes and terminology
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A team player
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • CostX, Buildsoft or similar software is an advantage but not essential
  • Data centre or main contractor experience is an advantage but not essential
