Dorset County Hospital Cross-Sectional Radiographer Opportunity
Dorset County Hospital is looking for a motivated and experienced Cross-Sectional Radiographer to join our team providing a seven-day service to the Trust. This is an ideal opportunity to develop your career in a proactive and innovative hospital environment. You will be involved in staff training, maintaining high standards and development of the service.
About the Role
The Diagnostic Imaging Department at Dorset County Hospital is a cohesive, friendly and forward-looking department. We pride ourselves on a supportive environment for all Diagnostic Imaging staff and are very proud to be accredited with the Quality Standard for Imaging.
We have three CT scanners; a Canon Prism and a GE Evo performing a range of procedures including CT Colonography, Cardiac CT and Interventional scans, and a GE Ascend in our CDC site in Weymouth Community Hospital. We also have two Siemens MRI scanners performing a wide range of imaging, including cardiac MRI. The new emergency department, due in 2027, will also have a new CT scanner located in the heart of the department. We actively encourage staff development and innovation, including radiographer reporting.
The post holder will join the cross-sectional team in developing and sustaining a high quality and responsive 7 day CT and MRI service. Participation in the CT night shift rota is a requirement. Travel to community sites is required.

Responsibilities
- Provide a CT / MRI service to inpatients, outpatients, private patients and ED patients.
- Provide clinical knowledge and expertise to ensure the appropriate triage, booking and examination of patients for cross sectional imaging.
- To have advanced level CT and or MRI skills to undertake highly specialised and complex imaging techniques.
- To act as deputy to the cross-sectional lead radiographers if required.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and high standard of technical work, complying with the relevant code of practice.
- Supervise and mentor students and staff offering expert training and advice to other members of the team.
- Participate in and coordinate QC, audit and research within the cross-sectional departments.
- Actively work with the cross-sectional lead Radiographers to identify areas for service improvement and efficiency.
- To work a flexible shift system to cover 24 hours, 7 days per week.
- To cover general x-ray department out of hours when required.
- Perform high quality diagnostic x-rays when required.
- To actively participate in the Quality Standard for Imaging accreditation scheme.
