Job Objectives, Responsibilities And Requirements
- Experience of organising, running and delivering cookery sessions would be an advantage
- An appropriate qualification in Food Hygiene is required minimum of level
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills are essential
- Experience within a custodial setting and or kitchen setting would be ideal
- To proactively promote and deliver cultural kitchen activities in line with contractual and statutory requirements and relevant standards.
- To deliver Food Hygiene courses with an assessment process leading to detainees gaining a relevant qualification in Food Handling or Food
- Coordinate the daily operation of the cultural kitchen ensuring appropriate resources, including food, are available for detainees and these resources are used cost effectively whilst all relevant standards are met.
- Oversee and undertake the preparation of food ensuring high standards of health and hygiene are maintained at all times.
- Organise and oversee a booking system that ensures detainees from all cultures and backgrounds have an opportunity to access the facility and that uptake of the provision is maximised.
- Be conversant with craft skills, menu knowledge, presentation and display of foods and portion sizes and assist in the training and development of the detainees working within the Cultural Kitchen.
- Organise and oversee the cleanliness of the Cultural Kitchen ensuring all areas and equipment meet relevant standards at all times.
- Create and maintain a safe, secure, positive and friendly environment where detainees feel welcomed and respected.
- Monitor attendance, retention and achievement figures and assist in the development of strategies and procedures to maximise improvements.
- Manage the environment ensuring the maintenance and security of all tools, equipment, food and materials to relevant standards.
- Deliver courses in Food Handling and Food Hygiene allowing detainees to achieve accreditation.
- Promote and deliver cookery skills training to develop detainees' skills and abilities.
- Complete all appropriate documentation ensuring it is accurate, complete and accessible.
- Support Regimes covering other areas as required to ensure continuity of service.
- Undertake further duties to support the Regimes department and the delivery of relevant vocational courses as required.
