JOB DESCRIPTION

Post: Responsible to: Curriculum Leader Curriculum Manager

Rewards package: £47,408, Access to Teachers Pension Scheme, 35 Days Annual leave plus 5 efficiency days and 8 bank holidays

Key Responsibility:

Designated staff teaching within the curriculum

Principal Duties:

  • To be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of staff within their curriculum area – to include staff cover and absence monitoring and reporting.
  • To liaise with other parts of the College, curriculum areas to ensure the development of courses within the curriculum.
  • To be directly involved in all aspects of the delivery and management of student learning within the curriculum area.
  • To proactively inform and implement the strategic development of the curriculum area.
  • To be responsible for the day-to-day management of courses within their curriculum area and be fully conversant with programme/course regulations and specifications ensuring compliance and best practice.
  • To advise and guide subject specialists within their curriculum area in relation to programme delivery and assessment review, to evaluate and monitor progress against quality improvement plans within the designated area.
  • To develop and maintain effective communication within the department by undertaking regular meetings and updating staff on key issues as required.
  • To be responsible for monitoring and using the systems used in College (electronic or otherwise) to ensure student success, i.e., e-Tracker, Moodle, HE Tracker, internal verification etc. (This list is not exhaustive)
  • To be responsible for conducting performance reviews for designated staff within their curriculum areas
  • To have responsibility for performance within their curriculum area and play a key part in the course review process and Quality Improvement Plan.
  • To monitor all quality indicators related to the learner experience within their curriculum areas and identify areas for improvement and action where required.
  • To liaise with course tutors and their teams to ensure continual development of resources to support the curriculum areas.
  • To undertake peer Teaching and Learning Observations as required, celebrate and share good practice and inform staff development.
  • To take responsibility for new initiatives or projects or development opportunities.

Duties of all Managers across B&FC Group:

  • To positively contribute to the achievement of the mission, values, strategic plan and annual operational plan at B&FC group
  • To clearly communicate the overall direction to employees, and to agree key performance measures which align to the agreed plans
  • To be fully accountable for the performance management and development of employees, enabling them to achieve their agreed performance measures and full potential
  • To plan, manage and allocate resources to enable delivery of agreed quality levels and customer expectations within the defined budget parameters
  • To create an environment in which clear communication and collaboration with internal and external customers enables the successful delivery of agreed plans and performance measures
  • To lead compliance for all mandatory requirements, such as Health & Safety standards, and to actively engage with the continuous improvement of these requirements at B&FC group
  • To establish and drive a culture of continuous quality improvement, optimising the use of digital solutions, as appropriate
