About The Post
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Design Technology specialist to lead our highly successful Design, Art & Technology curriculum team across Twynham School and The Grange School (Twynham TGS). This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented middle leader who is passionate about creative education and committed to securing exceptional outcomes for young people.
As Curriculum Team Leader, you will provide strategic leadership across Art, Design Technology and Food Technology, working collaboratively with an experienced and highly skilled subject specialists and leadership team. The curriculum area benefits from a strong structure, including an Assistant Team Leader who leads Art across the federation and a Subject Leader for Food Technology. As a result, we are particularly keen to recruit a colleague with a strong Design Technology specialism who can lead and champion DT provision across both schools while bringing the wider curriculum area together through a shared vision of excellence.
While the successful candidate's teaching timetable will be predominantly based at Twynham School, this is a genuinely cross-school leadership role. You will work closely with colleagues across both schools to deliver an ambitious curriculum, drive excellent outcomes, develop staff expertise and create exceptional learning experiences for young people across Christchurch.
Over The Last Two Years, We Have Made Significant Investment In Our Design Technology Facilities Across Twynham TGS, Creating An Environment That Matches Our Ambition For The Subject. This Includes
- Two brand-new, state-of-the-art Food Technology rooms.
- A fully inclusive specialist teaching space equipped with adjustable-height workstations.
- New flooring throughout the DT block.
- A new roof and refurbished facilities.
- Modern open-plan unisex toilets.
- A dedicated computer suite designed to support coursework and Non-Examined Assessment (NEA).
- A brand-new Art teaching room at The Grange School.
Alongside leading a talented team of specialists, you will play a key role in shaping curriculum development, driving innovation, supporting primary transition work and contributing to the wider leadership of both schools as a member of the Curriculum Leadership Team.
This role would suit either an experienced middle leader seeking a new challenge or an ambitious leader ready to take the next step in their career within a highly supportive and forward-thinking federation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
