Custody Account Onboarding Associate
JP Morgan
Location: London
Duration: 9 month contract
Work setup: Onsite
We are seeking an experienced Custody Account Onboarding Associate to join the Client Account Services team at JP Morgan in London on an initial 9-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in custody, asset servicing, investment operations, or account onboarding who enjoys working with external custodians and internal stakeholders to ensure investment accounts are set up accurately and efficiently.
The role will focus specifically on account setup, account maintenance, and custodian liaison, supporting the launch of new funds and segregated mandates. You will work closely with clients, custodians, and internal teams to coordinate account requirements, validate information, and resolve any issues through to completion.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate account setup activity for new investment accounts, including account openings, closures, and custodian changes.
- Liaise directly with custodians to obtain, validate, and confirm critical account setup information.
- Coordinate account-opening requirements between clients, custodians, and internal business and operations teams.
- Track account-opening requests, outstanding information, and key milestones to ensure activity is completed within agreed timelines.
- Maintain accurate account and reference data, ensuring information is complete and appropriately validated.
- Manage queries from clients and internal stakeholders, taking ownership of issues and driving them through to resolution.
- Build effective working relationships with custodians and other external parties.
- Produce reporting and statistics on account setup activity and outstanding requests.
- Ensure appropriate operational controls are followed and identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Custody services experience, particularly experience relating to account setup or account onboarding.
- Experience of liaising directly with custodians to validate and confirm account setup information.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel; advanced Excel skills would be advantageous.
- High attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capability, with the ability to work effectively with custodians, clients, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, meet agreed timelines, and deliver against client SLAs.
- A control-minded approach, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Self-motivated with a strong ownership mindset, taking responsibility for issues and driving them through to resolution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with external custodians and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to a changing environment.

Desirable qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Product/trade lifecycle familiarity across Equities, Fixed Income, Cash Markets, FX, and Exchange Traded Derivatives.
- Experience with account reference data, static data, or standing instructions would be advantageous.
