Custom Products Manager
The Custom Products Manager will be responsible for Cyclops’ projects which deliver load sensing products to meet particular customer’s requirements.
Role
The Custom Products Manager will be the design authority for all custom load measurement products that Cyclops develops and manufactures for particular customers, primarily these are load pins but other fittings which are required from time to time.
The Custom Products Manager will be an integral member of Cyclops’ Engineering team. Beyond the technical work, they will work with:
- Cyclops’ sales team to provide technical assurance to the sales process and to ensure that customer requirements are developed into specifications that are within the capabilities of the processes and technologies at Cyclops’ disposal.
- Cyclops’ operations team to schedule manufacturing, assembly, calibration and validation activities and to monitor these to ensure on-time customer delivery.
- Cyclops’ marketing team to support their activities to promote the Custom Products.
Technical
The Custom Products Manager will be the Technical Authority and principle design Engineer for all custom fittings. They will develop designs for these fittings that are either completely new, or derivatives of Cyclops’ previous Custom Products, or derivatives of Cyclops’ standard products. They will be responsible for ensuring that the designs meet the customer’s requirements, that they achieve the required strength, durability, lifetime, and accuracy. They will be responsible for delivering the aesthetics of the products, aiming wherever possible to design products that are elegant solutions to the measurement challenges and that grace and complement customer’s boats.

They will manage the engineering process to deliver custom products:
- Development of customer specification
- Development of design solutions
- Execution of design validation analyses and documentation of results
- Drafting of manufacturing drawings
- Interaction with manufacturing partners to ensure timely and correct delivery of custom made components
- Management of product assembly process
- Management of product functional validation and calibration processes and documentation of results
- Drafting and review of customer support documentation to assist customers in the correct installation, maintenance and operation of products.
- Customer post installation reviews and feedback
- Documentation of project learnings with the goal of continuous process improvement
Commercial
Cyclops’ custom products are a business line. The Custom Products Manager will work to maintain the existing flow of commercial product opportunities, to work with the sales team to find additional product opportunities and to offer these to customers on a basis which achieves target gross margins. Custom products carry with them long term support liabilities and the Custom Products Manager will be focussed on controlling these risks by ensuring product quality and reliability and helping customers understand the performance that they should expect from these products. Where need or opportunity arises to provide support services to customers, for example for product verification or recalibration, the Custom Products manager will work with all parties to ensure that such activities are a success and profitable.
The Custom Products Manager will have the following commercial responsibilities:
- Cost reduction strategy – have a road map of cost reduction on our load pin offer. Present as a KPI (monthly).
- Team competence – Own ensuring the sales team are well trained in the technology, USPs and processes. On occasion travel with the sales force for significant proposals/meetings. Present as a KPI of this role (quarterly).
- Gross Margin – Own GM growth with constant engagement in the pricing and pricing formula (aligned with cost reduction road map). Present as a KPI (monthly)
- Supply chain – work with Cyclops’ Operations Manager to ensure best suppliers are engaged in our strategy.
- Work towards shortest lead times in the market with the best quality. Present as a KPI (quarterly).
- Processes – assess, improve and implement best order processes for load pins. Ensure the Team understands the processes and are working by them. Outstanding customer experience is the goal.
- Marketing – support Cyclops marketing to ensure that the website, brochure and all content is accurate. Drive a quarterly campaign of load pin awareness. Ensure a library of great install shots and ambassador quotes on success of pins. Present as a KPI (quarterly).
- New product development – maintain a product improvement plan.
- Documentation – ensure there are accurate documents to support the load pin offer (install tips, technical instructions, multi-language).
- Customer experience – constantly monitor customer experience, liaise directly with customers to monitor their experience and strive to improve.

Custom Products Manager offered package
The Custom Products Manager is offered a salary of £40,000 Based from Cyclops’ Port Solent Office. 28 days holiday per year Statutory pension scheme = 8% (5% employee contribution, 3% employer)
