About The Role

We’re looking for motivated, customer-focused people who enjoy solving problems and helping customers find sustainable solutions. At Southern Housing, we believe in delivering fair, respectful, and effective services — and this role plays a vital part in supporting residents while protecting our income.

Reporting to a Customer Accounts Team Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering a high-quality arrears collection and debt recovery service for residents, former residents, and homeowners. You’ll manage a varied caseload of accounts, balancing our belief that rent should be paid with our commitment to sustaining tenancies wherever possible.

You’ll handle a high volume of customer contact across multiple channels, offering practical advice, setting up payment arrangements, and working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to resolve complex cases. You’ll also make appropriate use of legal and enforcement tools in line with policies and regulatory requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
