About Wenzel’s
At Wenzel's the Bakers, we're proud to be a family-owned business with over 50 years of baking heritage. Built on quality, passion, and tradition, we combine our roots with a modern, forward-thinking mindset to deliver great-tasting products and exceptional customer experiences across our stores and digital channels.
As we continue to develop our customer proposition, we are looking to strengthen our understanding of customer behaviour, preferences, and expectations. We are seeking a confident and personable Customer Insight & Research Assistant to support our Marketing Team by gathering valuable, first-hand customer feedback.
This is a summer job opportunity, ideal for someone looking to gain practical experience in marketing, consumer research, retail, or data analysis.
The Role
This is a customer-facing research role focused on understanding why customers visit Wenzel’s, what influences their purchasing decisions, and what prevents them from making a purchase.
You will work outside selected Wenzel’s stores, engaging with customers and members of the local community and conducting short, structured surveys and interviews.
The information you collect will help inform our marketing activity, product development, customer experience, promotions, and wider business decisions.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience within a growing UK food and retail business and develop valuable communication, research, and data-collection skills.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
