Job Introduction

The Passenger Transport Service (PTS) are responsible for the transportation of over 1,800 special needs and vulnerable children and adults twice daily; this is over 724,000 movements in the year.

The Service Consists Of

  • PTS Bus Operation who are responsible for the PTS Buses, the planning, maintenance, and customer care provided by our Road Crews
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) Taxi Escort Contracting Service which is responsible for the provision of Home to School transport via our Taxi Partners with the support of the SEN home based escort team.
  • Social Care Taxi Escort Contracting Service which is responsible for the provision of Taxi transport requested by social workers and other school and council provisions.

Role Description

We are looking for a Customer Planning Co-ordinator to join our dedicated team in the PTS Core team. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.

The Main Responsibilities Of This Role

We are looking for individuals who can plan, schedule, and deliver transport/travel assistance for vulnerable children and adults with special educational needs and/or disabilities, twice daily, in compliance with statutory and legislative requirements. As a member of the PTS Planning Team, the post holder will be required to manage the day-to-day planning operation and implementation of a safe, compliant, and cost-efficient service for approximately 300 home-based SEN Passenger Escorts and 160 depot-based PTS Bus Drivers and Escorts. The role involves ensuring the smooth operational running of the PTS Planning function.

Duties include:

  • Planning client-centred transport/travel assistance (PTS minibus or contracted taxi)
  • Manning service desks during duty hours
  • Responding to daily variations to ensure minimal disruption to the service
  • Maintaining accurate records of daily staff attendance in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures
  • Contributing to the recruitment, training, development, and performance management of PTS drivers and escorts (Home-based and Depot)
  • Demonstrating effective administrative and financial management skills
  • Complying with/contributing to health & safety management

You should have excellent customer service skills, be well organized, and be able to work in a fast-moving and very busy office environment. Therefore, we are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual, highly motivated in meeting the needs of both the employer and the customer.

It is essential that you have:

  • Experience of coordinating people and planning resources
  • Well-developed customer service skills
  • Are highly organized and efficient
  • Empathy and understanding of vulnerable customers with special needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within a demanding environment
  • High level of numeracy and computer literacy
  • Knowledge of the Bradford and District geographical area

Please note: The PTS Planning Office is open from 6.30 am until 5.00 pm, therefore, Customer Planning Co-ordinators are required to work within a range of start and finish times to meet operational needs.
