Role Description

Company Description

Firetree Chocolate is a multi-award-winning producer of bean-to-bar volcanic chocolate, crafted from rare cocoa beans sourced from remote island estates in the South Pacific and Oceania. Based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, our small factory creates a range of chocolate bars, hot chocolate, thins and couverture all made from directly sourced cocoa beans to the finished bar.

Role Description

The Customer Service, Admin & New Business Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Peterborough. This role focuses on providing excellent day-to-day customer service and administrative support across Firetree Chocolate, ensuring customer orders, enquiries and business administration are handled accurately and efficiently. The role will also support the Sales team with new business development, including prospect research, CRM management, sample coordination and sales follow-up.

This is a varied role within a small, agile business and will suit someone who is organised, proactive, commercially aware and happy to get involved.

Person Profile

  • Strong Customer Service skills, with the ability to handle inquiries professionally and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Proactive Sales & New Business Support, working with the sales team to develop prospect lists, secure meetings and follow up leads.
  • Effective Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication and confident interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Solid Administrative Assistance skills, including data entry, record-keeping, document preparation, and organising daily office tasks.
  • Good Analytical Skills to interpret customer data, track new business leads, and support reporting and basic problem-solving.
  • Understanding of Business processes, with the ability to support sales and new business activities and collaborate across teams.
  • Proficiency in common office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, word processing); experience with CRM or order management systems is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Previous experience in customer service, administration, or a similar role; experience in FMCG, food, or luxury goods is beneficial.
  • Ability to work on-site in Peterborough and collaborate in a small, dynamic team environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • GCSEs including Maths and English
  • 1-3 year's experience in customer service, sales administration or office administration
  • Experience dealing with customers by phone and email
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and business systems
  • Experience supporting sales or new business activity desirable
  • FMCG, food or chocolate experience advantageous but not essential
