The Corinium Museum holds large and internationally significant collections of archaeology, social and rural history and also operates the Visitor Information Centre. The collections span prehistory to the 19th century and cover a wide range of key curriculum subjects.

We are seeking a Customer Service Advisor to join our friendly Front of House team on a part-time basis. This is a varied customer-facing role where you will deliver excellent customer service to visitors to the Corinium Museum and provide a comprehensive tourist information service to visitors to the Cirencester Visitor Information Centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome visitors in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner
  • Handle payments accurately and in line with museum procedures
  • Promote and sell admissions, memberships, retail items, and tourism products
  • Provide visitor and tourist information including travel and transport details
  • Respond to telephone, email, and general enquiries
  • Maintain a clean and organised welcome desk and shop area
  • Support the marketing and promotion of the museum and its activities
  • Assist with administrative tasks and stock checks
  • Carry out other duties to support the day-to-day operation of the service

Hours

  • 11.3 hours per week (rota basis)

Experience

  • Experience working with the public
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure, and solve problems
  • Accurate and organised approach to handling data and payments
  • Friendly, approachable, and positive attitude
  • Flexibility and willingness to support operational needs

Desirable

  • Experience in a museum, heritage, or visitor information environment
  • Interest in history or archaeology
  • Knowledge of the local area
  • Interest in marketing and promotion
