CARTS provides public transportation services in ten Texas counties surrounding the capital city: Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis, and Williamson.

We are seeking a responsible, independent, and self-motivated clerical worker. Self-sufficiency for sole responsibility of the office is essential.

Position Summary

The Customer Service Agent provides transportation information to the public, sells tickets, and performs general office tasks.

Work Schedule:

  • Part-time position, 18 hours per week
  • DAYS: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
  • HOURS: 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (with one-hour lunch 11:30-12:30)
  • Wage: $16.00 per hour

Required Qualifications

  • High School degree or GED
  • Office experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Computer experience
  • Ability to count money and provide correct change
  • Ability to read bus schedules and retain information about routes and services
  • Ability to occupy the office on one’s own with competence

Duties

  • Provide schedule, routing, transfer, and current fare information to customers.
  • Sell tickets and handle cash drawer; follow proper cash handling procedures.
  • Answer phone and provide helpful and accurate information.
  • Direct passengers to wait locations for departures and connections.
  • Check office area for stray and/or lost and found items and processes promptly.
  • Ensure the office is clean and organized throughout the day.
  • Complete End-of-Shift report ensuring all supporting documents and deposit information are accurate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Follows core standards with all customers.
