Customer Service Agents – DWP (Hybrid)

Wath Upon Dearne, Rotherham (S63 7ER)

Salary: £24,879.82 per annum + Performance Bonus

Contract: Fixed Term (up to 6 months)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Shifts between 7:45am – 7:45pm)

Start Date: September 2026 onwards

We’re looking for friendly, professional and empathetic Customer Service Agents to join our growing G4S Customer Contact Centre in Wath Upon Dearne. As the first point of contact for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), you’ll support members of the public with enquiries relating to benefits, providing reassurance, guidance and outstanding customer service on every call.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team with the flexibility of hybrid working following successful completion of onsite training.

The Role

As a Customer Service Agent, you’ll be handling inbound calls from members of the public regarding DWP benefits. You’ll listen carefully, provide accurate information, communicate with empathy and professionalism, and ensure every customer receives the highest level of service.

Following your initial onsite training, you’ll move to a hybrid working model. All home-based colleagues must be able to attend the Wath Upon Dearne site when required and have a private workspace with a reliable internet connection.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Answer inbound customer calls relating to DWP benefit enquiries.
  • Deliver excellent customer service with empathy, patience and professionalism.
  • Provide accurate information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Build rapport with customers and confidently manage sensitive conversations.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions.
  • Meet quality and performance standards.
  • Keep up to date with DWP guidance, legislation and company updates.
  • Complete all required training and development.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and GDPR requirements at all times.
  • Escalate enquiries appropriately where necessary.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.

You’ll Have

  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • A confident and professional telephone manner.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage sensitive conversations.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Google applications.
  • The ability to build rapport with a wide range of customers.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to supporting your colleagues.

Please Note

Applicants must live within travelling distance of our Wath Upon Dearne (S63 7ER) site and be able to attend onsite when required.

This role is offered on a fixed-term contract for up to six months with potential opportunity for a permanent position, subject to business needs and performance.
