We are looking to invest in an apprentice who wants to progress and grow in a company that offers excellent long-term career progression, is willing to learn and is customer focused.
Wage
- £16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
- National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Telephone Use
- Answering the telephone in an efficient, helpful and pleasant manner
- Recording telephone messages accurately
- Making use of the telephone system to transfer messages to other staff
- Giving telephone and other messages to the relevant person
Customer Support
- Welcoming visitors into the Office
- Ensuring visitors complete the appropriate signing in procedures on the digital system
- Support the Health & Safety requirements of visitors and contractors attending the site
- Maintain & keep records up to date
- Working positively with customers on the telephone, in person and e-mail
- Offering support and guidance to customers on the telephone, in person and e-mail
- Dealing with difficult customers in an appropriate manner
Office Tasks
- General Admin Support
- Using the Photocopier for copying information and scanning documents
- Use of Laminator and binding machine for presentation of information
- Filing information into appropriate folders
- Support accounting processes by matching delivery notes to the relevant invoice
- Completing driving license checks 6 monthly
- Creating Inspection files
- Emailing customer surveys
- Filing of Job Cards
- Take accurate meeting minutes, recording key points and agreed actions
- Produce minutes and distribute to appropriate staff members
- Update training spreadsheet accordingly and file certificates in an organized manner
Computer Literacy
- Ability to use Microsoft office to produce documents and letters by Microsoft Word and Excel
- To send, receive and organise e mails using Microsoft Outlook
- To make use of Outlook Calendar to organise appointments and visits
Social Media Advertising
- Review existing social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram and X, identify opportunities for improvement, and support the company’s social media advertising
- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes to the relevant staff members
- Take responsibility for social media advertising on behalf of Glosta Engineering, (Magazines)
- Advertise stock products on eBay, Facebook Marketplace and Newsletters by email

Health and Safety
- To become familiar with and work to, Glosta Engineering Health and Safety Management system
- To understand employee responsibilities under Glosta Engineering’s Health and Safety Management System
- Understanding of GDPR/Data Protection Legislation
Ordering Consumables
- To create an inventory and ordering system for consumables
- To learn the names of the consumables for ease of ordering and to create correct labels matched to the item
- To ensure consumables are ordered in a timely manner and in sufficient quantities to ensure continuity of work
- Any other tasks as the job role progresses. (This list is not exhaustive and will change over time to accommodate Glosta Engineering evolving requirements/ needs and developmental opportunities for the staff member in post)

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
- Depending on your job role and work environment:
- Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
- Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
- Depending on your job role and work environment:
- Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
- Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
- Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate patience and calmness.
- Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
- Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
- Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Essential qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English (grade 4/C or above or equivalent)
- Maths (grade 4/C or above or equivalent)

The business has a long-established history dating back to 1973 and specialises in the design and manufacture of skips, containers and bespoke steel products for customers across the UK.
The company works with customers across the waste, recycling, reclamation and other industries, providing a range of standard and custom-made products to meet individual customer requirements. Glosta Engineering also manufactures structural steel frames and develops bespoke engineering solutions for a variety of applications.
