You’ll gain experience supporting customers, processing orders and working in a friendly team, while studying a recognised Customer Service Practitioner qualification. With full training and the opportunity of a permanent position, this is a great chance to learn and build your career.
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Respond to customer enquiries by telephone and email, providing helpful and professional support
- Process customer orders accurately and keep customers updated on order progress and delivery times
- Prepare and assist with customer quotations, ensuring information is accurate and clearly communicated
- Build positive relationships with customers and deal with queries or issues promptly and professionally
- Liaise with colleagues across sales, production, purchasing and dispatch to ensure customer requirements are met
- Learn about Lil Packaging's products and services so that you can provide knowledgeable and helpful customer support
- Maintain accurate customer records and update information on company systems
- Develop communication, organisation and problem-solving skills through practical experience and apprenticeship training

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
- Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
- Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
- Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate patience and calmness.
- Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
- Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
- Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Training schedule
The apprentice will work towards the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard. Training will be provided by The College of Animal Welfare (CAW) in Huntingdon.
The apprentice will develop practical skills and knowledge in customer service, communication, handling customer enquiries, problem solving, understanding customer needs and building effective customer relationships.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will achieve the Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their career to gain experience across a growing manufacturing and ecommerce business. The apprentice will work with experienced colleagues and gain exposure to different departments and business functions. Full support and training will be provided throughout the apprenticeship.
Essential qualifications
- GCSE in:
- 5 Subjects (grade 4/C or Equivalent)
- English (grade 4/C or Equivalent)
- Maths (grade 4/C or Equivalent)

Other requirements
This is an office-based role involving regular use of computers, telephone and email. The apprentice will be expected to work at a computer for periods of the working day and will need to be organised and able to manage multiple tasks. The role is based at our Huntingdon premises.

After this apprenticeship

The successful apprentice will be offered a full-time permanent position on successful completion of the apprenticeship, subject to satisfactory performance. There will be opportunities to develop a long-term career within Lil Packaging, with the future role and department agreed based on the apprentice's skills, interests and the needs of the business.
