Are you passionate about helping people and delivering excellent customer service? Do you want to gain valuable workplace experience while earning and learning?
Dudley Council is looking for an enthusiastic Customer Service Apprentice to join our Homeless Prevention Response Team. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a rewarding career within local government, supporting some of the most vulnerable residents in our community while working towards a Level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship.
As a Customer Service Apprentice, you will be part of the front-line team supporting residents, partner agencies and colleagues across the Housing Service. You will develop valuable administrative, communication and customer service skills while receiving on-the-job training and support from experienced professionals. Your responsibilities will include:
- Answering telephone enquiries and taking messages.
- Providing excellent customer service to residents and partner agencies.
- Supporting the team with administrative tasks including letters, appointments and record keeping.
- Updating and maintaining case management systems.
- Processing and recording homelessness approaches.
- Signposting customers to appropriate services and support.
- Collecting and recording information for performance monitoring and government returns.
- Working closely with Housing Advice Assistants and other service areas.

We are seeking someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in customer service.
- Is willing to undertake a Level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship.
- Has strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Enjoys working as part of a team.
- Has good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Is organised, reliable and committed to providing high-quality service.
- Demonstrates empathy, respect and understanding when dealing with customers from diverse backgrounds.
- Is keen to learn, develop new skills and build a career in public service.

Additional Information
- This post is subject to a DBS check.
- The successful candidate will be required to work onsite five days per week.
