About This Role
Are you a Customer Service Controller, Service Controller or experienced Service Coordinator looking for a role where great customer service and practical problem solving genuinely matter? As our Customer Service Controller at Dawsongroup TCS in Sutton in Ashfield, you will be the first point of contact for customers with assets on rent, coordinating service activity across your designated area and keeping customers informed from first call through to resolution.
- Manage incoming customer calls and emails, accurately recording asset information, contact details and service requirements.
- Coordinate breakdowns with mobile engineers, keeping customers updated on ETAs, RAMS and progress while ensuring information is correctly recorded.
- Help manage servicing schedules, overdue services, stock checks and engineer administration to reduce unnecessary visits and support first time fixes.
- Work closely with engineers and support colleagues, using AS400, Mdrive, monitoring systems and historical information to understand issues and agree the best course of action.
- Provide weekend breakdown cover from home on a rota basis, including Christmas coverage, and support emergency situations when required.
About You
You will bring previous experience from a similar customer service, service control or coordination role, along with the confidence to communicate with customers and colleagues when priorities change. You do not need to have followed one particular career path, what matters is your ability to organise information, communicate clearly and keep customer satisfaction at the centre of your decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
