Customer Service Advisor – Fixed Term Contract

Who You Are

You’re passionate about delivering a great customer experience and enjoy helping people find the right products for their needs.

Ideally, you’ll have an interest in musical instruments and equipment. You might play bass in a rock band, perform as first violin in an orchestra, DJ at weekends, produce music at home or simply have a genuine enthusiasm for music.

Above all, you’ll be professional, friendly and reliable, with the confidence to communicate clearly with customers.

What You’ll Do

As part of our Customer Service team, you’ll provide friendly, knowledgeable and professional support during our busy peak season.

Most of your time will be spent answering inbound calls, alongside responding to email enquiries. You’ll help customers with questions about a wide range of musical instruments, equipment and related products, ensuring they receive the excellent service and advice they expect from Gear4music.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound customer calls and respond to occasional email enquiries
  • Provide friendly, professional and helpful advice about musical instruments, equipment and related products
  • Build rapport with customers and understand their individual needs
  • Resolve customer queries and more challenging enquiries, escalating issues when appropriate
  • Develop your product knowledge and become a valued member of our specialist Customer Service team
  • Support the team in delivering an excellent customer experience throughout our busiest trading period

What We’re Looking For

We have an idea of the experience and skills that would work well in this role, but we know great people come from many different backgrounds. If you’re excited about the opportunity but don’t meet every requirement, we’d still encourage you to apply. You may have exactly the qualities we’re looking for.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A confident and professional telephone manner
  • The ability to quickly build rapport with customers
  • Previous experience in a customer service or customer-facing environment
  • Good computer skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office
  • An interest in and appreciation of music
  • Knowledge of musical instruments and equipment, although this is not essential
  • A reliable and positive approach
  • A genuine commitment to providing first-class customer service
  • Availability to work with us on a fixed-term basis until February

Contract, Location and Working Hours

This is a fixed-term contract until February, created to support our Customer Service team during the busy peak season. The role has the potential to be made permanent after this date depending on the candidate and company requirements.

The role is Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm, with occasional weekend working as required.
