Are you looking for a varied and rewarding role at the heart of your local community? Kirklees Markets is seeking enthusiastic and hardworking Customer Service Assistants to support the day-to-day operation of our vibrant markets across the district.

This is an exciting time for Kirklees Markets, with significant investment being made into the redevelopment of both Huddersfield and Dewsbury Markets. Temporary market facilities are in place to ensure traders can continue to operate and customers can continue to shop locally while these transformational projects are delivered.

About The Role

As a Customer Service Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the operation of markets across Kirklees. Working as part of a team and supporting Duty Managers, you will help ensure our markets are safe, welcoming, and ready for traders and customers every day.

Kirklees Markets operates 363 days a year, and you will work a variety of shifts across a 7-day rota.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Opening, securing, and unlocking market buildings and facilities.
  • Setting up and dismantling demountable stalls at smaller town centre and monthly markets.
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of markets across the district.
  • Managing trader waste and ensuring market areas are clean and ready for the next trading day.
  • Carrying out public toilet inspections and cleaning duties.
  • Driving Council vehicles to transport stalls and equipment to various locations.
  • Supporting the delivery of equipment hire services.
  • Providing excellent customer service to traders, visitors, and members of the public.
  • Acting as an ambassador for Kirklees Council and demonstrating our values and positive behaviours at all times.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent customer service skills and enjoys working with people.
  • Is reliable, flexible, and able to work a varied shift pattern.
  • Is willing to undertake physical tasks, including setting up market stalls and equipment.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.
  • Takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments.
