At SWARCO, we are committed to shaping the future of smart mobility and sustainable transport solutions. We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Customer Support Engineer to join our growing EV charging team based in Dundee.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and delivering excellent customer service. You will play a key role in maintaining and supporting EV charging infrastructure, ensuring customers receive a reliable and professional service experience.

Job Description

As a Customer Support Engineer, you will:

  • Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repair activities on EV charging infrastructure.
  • Diagnose faults and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime.
  • Support customers and clients by providing professional technical assistance.
  • Undertake fault-finding, repairs, and component replacement activities.
  • Manage stock levels and order replacement parts as required.
  • Complete service documentation and daily worksheets accurately.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider service team.
  • Ensure customer sites remain operational and compliant with service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery

  • Maintain customer EV charging stations and associated equipment.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Complete repairs and replacement of defective components.
  • Ensure all service activities are completed safely and efficiently.

Technical Support

  • Diagnose hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Provide effective fault-finding and troubleshooting support.
  • Escalate complex issues when required whilst maintaining ownership of customer outcomes.
  • Deliver high levels of customer service during all customer interactions.

Stock & Asset Management

  • Manage and control van stock effectively.
  • Order replacement parts and ensure appropriate stock replenishment.
  • Maintain accurate records of parts usage and inventory levels.

Administration

  • Complete daily worksheets and service reports accurately.
  • Record mileage and vehicle information as required.
  • Ensure all work is documented in accordance with company procedures.

Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility to travel occasionally for on-site support when required.
  • Willingness to participate in the on-call rota (currently 1 week in 5).
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours when necessary to support customer requirements.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Engineering background with verifiable references.
  • Proven experience in a service engineering or field engineering role.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in technical support, field service, or related engineering environments.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment, including multimeters.
  • Ability to trace continuity and undertake electrical testing safely.
  • Practical hands-on engineering skills and confidence using tools and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 3 penalty points.
  • Right to live and work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Experience within the EV charging, clean energy, automotive, or smart mobility sectors.
  • Previous experience providing technical support to customers or service teams.
  • Experience participating in an on-call rota.
  • Knowledge of network-connected devices and remote diagnostics.
