Purpose Of the Role
To ensure all customs administration formalities are completed accurately and efficiently, maintaining full compliance with company procedures, customs regulations, and relevant legislation. The role is responsible for delivering a high standard of service to customers, providing proactive support and resolving customs-related issues effectively to ensure the smooth movement of goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage customs documentation in line with UK Customs regulations, AEO requirements, and DACHSER standards.
- Support customs declarations, ensuring information is accurate and submitted within required timescales.
- Investigate and correct customs entry discrepancies, submitting amendments where required.
- Assist with monthly and annual customs reporting.
- Resolve customs-related issues to minimise delays and maintain service levels.
- Carry out quality checks to ensure compliance with customs regulations and AEO standards.
- Identify recurring errors and support process improvements and training initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation meets compliance and operational requirements.
- Manage Excel trackers, reporting tools, and compliance records in line with customs authorisations and SOPs.
- Liaise with customers and internal teams to resolve queries and support efficient customs operations.
- Escalate compliance risks, operational concerns, and complex issues when required.
- Manage personal and shared inboxes, ensuring timely and professional communication.
- Support customs activities and other departments as required to meet business needs.
- Monitor transit irregularities and ensure issues are investigated and resolved promptly.
- Support audits, spot checks, and AEO-related activities to maintain compliance standards.
- Demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and excellent customer service.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the wider business.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working to internal SLAs and deadlines
- At least 2 years Administration experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Customer-focused with a commitment to quality service
- Adaptable and able to manage changing priorities
