The position is critical for maintaining compliance with all relevant international trade regulations and supporting business operations. To meet these objectives, the role is structured around three core areas:
- Providing expert customs advisory and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Managing and optimizing trade operations and processes
- Conducting audits and training while engaging with key stakeholders
This focus ensures comprehensive coverage of all customs-related activities, from strategic guidance to operational execution. Given the emphasis on advanced compliance and process management, the ideal candidate will possess significant experience in international trade, particularly with UK/EU customs regulations. A proven ability to work independently on complex issues, coupled with strong analytical skills and experience in auditing and process improvement, will be essential for success in this senior professional position.
How you'll make a difference
- Provide expert customs advice and guidance to the gas services business to ensure full compliance with UK and international trade laws
- Review complex new projects within the gas services business and provide customs relevant guidance and advice
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive internal export and import controls, policies, and procedures
- Monitor changes in customs legislation and regulations, analyze the impact on the business, and implement necessary process adjustments
- Support the legal department in investigating and resolving complex compliance problems, questions, or complaints related to customs matters
- Oversee and improve operational processes for ensuring trade compliance, including gate reviews of technical data and shipments
- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of all applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Generate and analyze performance metrics for export and import processes to drive continuous improvement
- Identify opportunities for duty optimization within the business area
- Establish and conduct internal training and audit programs to ensure the effective implementation and adherence to trade compliance controls

What you bring
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)
- Qualifications from the Institute of Export & International Trade (IOE&IT)
- Bachelor's degree in International Business, Law, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Senior Professional in international trade compliance, customs advisory, or a similar role
