Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Customs Agent to handle import and export customs clearances across Great Britain, Ireland, and Northern Ireland. Working Mon-Fri (09:00 - 17:30), this role is ideal for someone with strong technical customs knowledge who can process declarations accurately while supporting customers with day-to-day clearance requirements.

You will be responsible for preparing customs entries, ensuring regulatory compliance, and liaising with customs authorities and logistics partners to ensure timely clearance of goods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit import and export customs declarations for UK, ROI, and NI movements
  • Ensure full compliance with UK and EU customs regulations and post-Brexit procedures
  • Review commercial invoices, packing lists, and transport documents for accuracy
  • Liaise with HMRC, Irish Revenue, ports, and freight forwarders to resolve clearance issues
  • Manage customs queries, inspections, and document requests
  • Monitor shipment progress and address delays or discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate records in line with customs and audit requirements

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Customs Agent or Customs Clerk
  • Strong knowledge of UK, EU, and Northern Ireland customs processes
  • Experience with import/export declarations and tariff classification
  • Understanding of customs regimes such as transit, special procedures, and duty reliefs (desirable)
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Experience using customs declaration systems
