We are growing our UK team and now recruiting a Customs Clearance Clerk to join our Manchester Airport branch where you will be responsible within a team to coordinate and organise the full range of import and export customs services. You will receive extensive internal and external training as well as an online training for customs legislation and foreign trade, giving you the skills required to build a successful career in the freight forwarding industry.

Please note any applicants must be happy with working 1 in every 3 weekends - on these weekends they will have Friday off and Sundays will be paid at 2x

Daily Tasks

  • Manage multiple customs inboxes to coordinate with clients, customs agents, freight forwarders, hauliers, and other customs brokers to ensure customs documentation is delivered within company KPI’s.
  • Collating data from multiple commercial documents provided by customers, verifying that they meet the required standards, and using the information to create customs clearance documents, ensuring all shipments comply with international customs regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate with the above via phone and email to resolve an issues related to shipments. Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to shipments, and submit post clearance amendments where needed.
  • Create CHED documents for POAO shipments via Government Gateway
  • Create T1 transit documents.
  • Create GMR’s via Government Gateway.
  • Create SPOT jobs for documentation and billing.
  • Calculate tariffs and duties.
  • Bill customs charges, duties, outlay fees.

  • Knowledge of Customs Regulations: In-depth understanding of import/export laws and regulations.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous and detail-oriented to ensure accuracy in documentation and compliance.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple shipments and tasks simultaneously.
