Job Description
This position requires a basic understanding of Customs compliance regulations and day-to-day customs operations. The role will support local Customs compliance activities for the assigned location and work closely with internal stakeholders, with guidance and oversight from senior compliance personnel. The Individual with this responsibility will also play a key role in driving efforts to create a positive and inclusive work environment and culture across the site.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring effective import and export compliance processes and practices at Teledyne E2V in Chelmsford, in accordance with domestic and foreign trade laws and regulations and Teledyne Technologies corporate customs compliance policies and procedures.
- Provide support to Customs Compliance officer to implement elements of the Customs compliance program, including import control touchpoints, functional instructions and other documentation; trade data points such as HTS classification, country of origin, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) eligibility, valuation, export requirements, etc.; forwarding agent management; recordkeeping; audits and training.
- Review and/or validate Customs entries for accuracy and compliance with customs regulations and CITC policies and procedures.
- Manage Inward Processing Relief for multiple sites.
- Provide quarterly and yearly reporting, conduct regular customs compliance training for functional groups, conduct periodic audits and self-audits and implement corrective action, as required.
- Assist in trade investigations.

Key Skills and Competencies Required
- Knowledge of UK & EU Customs Laws and Regulations
- Some experience in utilizing Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), using proper valuation methods, conducting and documenting classifications, Preferential Origin qualification, evaluating MSS Data, Customs Special Procedures
- Strong Computer Skills would be an asset
- Experience with collecting and analyzing data and preparing concise and timely reports
- Knowledge of industry practices
- Strong communication skills
- Experienced with solving complex problems using collaborative techniques

What will you be doing?
This role demands exceptional communication skills. You will work with local Trade Compliance as well as with Teledyne’s Corporate International Trade Compliance (“CITC”) office. You will need to be fully engaged, offering a business support approach with a passion for continuous improvement. The role also requires the highest degree of ethical business conduct and integrity, and one that demonstrates Teledyne’s Core Values every day. You will be a support function to the loshipping team for all custom related questions.

- Review and/or validate Customs entries for accuracy and compliance with customs regulations and CITC policies and procedures.
- Provide quarterly and yearly reporting, conduct regular customs compliance training for functional groups, conduct periodic audits and self-audits and implement corrective action, as required
- Assist in trade investigations
- Provide support to other Teledyne sites as and when required
