As we continue to grow our Customs Services business, we are looking for an experienced Customs Implementation Consultant to lead the successful onboarding of new customers and support the delivery of complex customs implementations across the UK.
This is a highly visible role that combines project management, stakeholder engagement, operational excellence, and customer relationship management.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Customs Implementation Consultant, you will be responsible for ensuring new customers are successfully transitioned into Maersk's Customs Services operation whilst delivering an exceptional customer experience throughout the implementation journey.
Project & Implementation Management
- Lead and manage customs implementation projects from initiation through to operational handover.
- Deliver projects in line with Maersk implementation methodologies, customer requirements, and agreed timelines.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including Commercial, Product, Operations, Digital, and Customer Success stakeholders.
- Manage project risks, dependencies, actions, and governance to ensure successful implementation outcomes.
- Provide regular project updates and executive-level reporting to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure seamless handover of implemented solutions to operational teams, including process reviews, documentation, and readiness assessments.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure customer requirements are understood, documented, and translated into operational processes.
- Manage stakeholder expectations while balancing commercial, operational, and customer objectives.

Process Design & Operational Excellence
- Develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and implementation plans.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, enhance service delivery, and reduce operational complexity.
- Support re-engineering of customer processes and identify opportunities to improve the customer experience.
- Promote a culture of operational excellence and best practice across customs operations.
Systems & Digital Enablement
- Support systems implementations, application demonstrations, and digital onboarding activities.
- Partner with Maersk's Digital and Technology teams to deliver customer system requirements.
- Act as the liaison between customers, commercial teams, operations, and technology stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of technical solutions.
- Support user adoption, training, and process compliance across new implementations.
Business Growth & Capability Building
- Support new business opportunities by ensuring operational readiness and implementation feasibility.
- Deliver training, coaching, and knowledge transfer to operational teams as required.
- Ensure customer-specific processes are clearly communicated and embedded within operational teams.
What We're Looking For
- Proven project management experience within Customs, Freight Forwarding, Logistics, International Trade, or Supply Chain environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex customer implementations, onboarding projects, or operational change programmes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across multiple business functions and seniority levels.
- Experience developing and implementing operational processes and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Strong customer-facing experience with a customer-first mindset.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean, Operational Excellence, or Business Process Improvement methodologies.
- Exposure to systems implementations, digital transformation, or workflow automation projects.
- Knowledge of customs operations, compliance requirements, and international trade processes.
- Understanding of project governance, risk management, and change management practices.
