This position is for a National role, you can be based all over the UK willing to reach one of our offices. The Customs Compliance Manager (Government & Defence) is a strategic compliance leader responsible for ensuring Kuehne+Nagel Government & Defence operations meet the highest standards of customs and trade compliance. Working across bids, customer solutions, operational implementation, audits and training, this role acts as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, customers and operational teams. The position plays a critical role in protecting the business, supporting customer growth and strengthening Kuehne+Nagel reputation as a trusted logistics partner within the defence and government sector.

How you create impact

  • Provide expert guidance on customs compliance, export controls, sanctions and trade regulations.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for Government & Defence.

You will manage, develop, and support the technology infrastructure that powers Kuehne+Nagel’s global systems and operations. This contribution is vital to making both special and ordinary moments in the lives of people a reality. Join us in developing and improving SALOG, our global Air & Sea Logistics IT System that supports Kuehne+Nagel's operations worldwide. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and stability of business-critical applications used across global logistics operations. Working closely with developers, designers, product owners, and business stakeholders, you will help deliver solutions that meet both technical and customer expectations.

How You Create Impact

  • Review business requirements, specifications, and technical designs to ensure testability and quality.
  • Create comprehensive test plans, test cases, and testing documentation.
  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate testing activities across the development lifecycle.
  • Identify, document, and track defects through to resolution.
  • Perform functional, integration, and regression testing for new and existing functionalities.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, designers, and business stakeholders to improve product quality.
  • Contribute to both manual and automated testing activities.
  • Help improve QA processes, testing standards, and overall quality practices across the team.

What We Would Like You To Bring

  • Experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Development.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing processes, and defect management.
  • Experience designing and executing manual test scenarios and test cases.
  • Exposure to test automation and a genuine interest in expanding automation capabilities.
  • Experience with Cucumber; knowledge of Playwright is a strong advantage as the team evolves its automation approach.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with developers, designers, product owners, and business stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong English communication skills and experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.
